The house rules
Terms
Last changed 5 November 2026
These are the rules of Speakeasy, the Kitchen and the Bar at speakeasy.cooking, run by Happy Jewel LLC (“we”). By using either room you agree to them. They are short on purpose.
Accounts are by invitation
Speakeasy is open for now to a short guest list. Keeping books, notes and recipes, and talking to the barkeep or the cooks, need an account, and an account needs an invitation. One account per person, signed in with your own Google account; the same account opens both rooms. We may close an account that breaks these rules.
Use it fairly
- Don’t use Speakeasy to break the law or to harass anyone.
- Don’t add anything that isn’t yours to share, or anyone’s personal information without their consent.
- Don’t try to get around its limits, overload it, scrape it, or get into anything that isn’t yours.
What you write
What you write and add stays yours: your books, recipes, drinks, pages, photos and notes. You let us store it and show it back to you, and, when you share a book, show it to whoever has the link. Share only what you have the right to share, including recipes and photos from elsewhere.
Anyone can report a shared book. We read every report, and we may take down a shared book or a photo that breaks these rules.
The barkeep and the cooks
The barkeep and the cooks are fictional characters whose answers are written by an AI model. They can be wrong. Check anything that matters, allergies above all, before you rely on it.
The Kitchen
Cook with care
Recipes are offered for information. Check the ingredients for allergies, and follow safe practice for handling, cooking and storing food.
No warranty
Speakeasy is offered as it is, without any warranty. It may change, pause or close. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using it.
Leaving
You can delete your account at any time, from the Kitchen’s account sheet or the Bar’s Settings; the privacy page says what that removes.
The law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, in the United States. Any dispute about them, or about Speakeasy, goes to the state or federal courts in Cook County, Illinois.
Changes and questions
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Questions go to [email protected], and questions about your data to [email protected].
